Agoro Sare will lock horns with Pioneer in the last pool matches
Coastal basketball giants Dr. Aggrey will likely require a substantial amount of time to recover from the narrow 54-53 defeat suffered at the hands of Agoro Sare in a closely contested basketball match played on Wednesday at Machakos Boys.
This was the first meeting between the two sides.
Dr. Aggrey who are under the tutelage of Kevin Aran suffered a 10-04 defeat in the first quarter but the undying spirit in them was yet to unfold as they won the second one 12-16.
Their fine form continued to the third quarter where they defeated their opponents 20-16.
They however lost it 16-13 in the final quarter.
Speaking after the game, Agoro Sare's coach Benson Ochieng admitted that their opponents brought their A-game on board. He however praised his charges for the resilience displayed throughout.
"It was a very intense match. Our boys played according to instructions. Competition is very high and coaches have prepared their teams well.
We expect better competition in the coming matches. We are taking one match at a time. This is nationals, you cannot plan ahead. You play very carefully and instruct the boys accordingly," Ochieng told Mozzart Sport.
Agoro Sare will lock horns with Pioneer in the last pool matches. Ochieng noted that they were keen to correct their weak areas like turnovers.
"We had a lot of turnovers and we have to ensure the players are cool. Some of them are under a lot of pressure because they are playing in the nationals for the first time. We have to work on that," he offered.
Meanwhile, Laiser Hill picked up from where they left off on Tuesday to heap a 61-35 misery on Dagoretti. Laiser started their campaign with a 71-67 win over Lukenya. They will face Sabunley in the final pool match.
Dagoretti on the other hand were coming off an impressive 126-35 win over Sabunley in their opening pool match. They will take on Lukenya School.
In the ladies' category, Kaya Tiwi defeated Ikutha 82-26 while Buruburu saw off favorites Butere 33-27.
